Sorry for the hiatus — I be a homeowner now!

Its been a while since i’ve been blogging! Not really sure who’s actually reading my posts — but honestly its just been fun to reread my stupid posts after a while -me and my curious cases of curious Nicole.

A lot of life updates for 2022 — learning to be content in the ever changing world. One of the updates and partially why I disappeared for a bit — I’m an official homeowner now! The next few posts will probably be some bloopers with the process of homeowning — I already have a blog post in the making — but the story’s not over yet — so I’ll be posting that when its time!

The 2022 early housing market was extremely competitive. Working with my realtor, I was told that in order to win any offer, most home owners now a days are waiving all 3 contingencies, including a homeowner inspection. Though I was honestly hoping for a cute townhome, for me it came down to location or space and I ended up starting off with a nice cute condo as my first home. Its cozy — but it’ll need a few upgrades ( Continue following my blog over the next few months to learn more). The first few days I had the key, I’m thankful for Z to have come over, take initiative and without any prompting do somewhat of an inspection for me. I have a lot to learn in general — the world is out there for me. One of the cute finds was a cute tiny rock that was painted in bright bold colors that was left in the utility closet.

Another find, was an unused air filter — works great for me to know what the size is because they left an unused one. However, upon looking for the air vent, Z found it, and used the electronic drill to undrill the nails bolting it, but because the unit was freshly painted over, I guess the previous owner painted right over the seams of the vents as well. Good to know paint can act as a semi adhesive. So without the nails — the vents were sealed shut with the dried paint. At this point — I remember having a bad feeling about it — that the filter may not even have been changed the last few years. When P came over the first time to see the inside he complained that he had a hard time breathing and that the whole place smelled super strong of Vanilla. The place did have some sort of scent, but I actually liked the scent — at least it wasn’t a cigarette smell.

The next day, dad and I went back to check out the vent. We brought a paint scraper this time, and dad was able to scrape out the vent. Welp. I’m guessing the person who owned this before never changed the filter cause it was pretty bad. And on top of probably never having changed it — the filter was backwards. Are ya ready fam? Heres what an air filter that hasn’t been changed for about 3 years that was installed backwards looks like:

I’ll be documenting more silly bloopers along the way =D Stay tuned fam! love y’all and thanks for taking time to read my silly adventures with Curious Nicole!
